Author's Notes:
Don't hurt me, or I can't finish the story!!
It was from Bella.

Chapter 90:
I could hear a lot of yelling and screaming, and I felt my arms being released as I slumped down to the ground right before I blacked out. I woke up in the prison infirmary feeling about as shitty physically as I already did mentally.
It helped, actually.
I opened my eyes and looked into a strangely familiar tanned face.
“Hey Edward,” he said, and the sound alone made my head feel like it had just spilt open and a yoke fell out of it. “Remember me?”
He really did look familiar. Fucking huge guy, too. He was really tan, and had black hair and eyes.
“Um…Seth?”
“Yeah!” He literally beamed from ear to ear. That hurt my head, too. “Don’t try to move or anything, okay? You got pretty…um…beat up.”
“Yeah.” I didn’t really care to have any further elaboration on the topic.
“Don’t worry, man,” Seth said. “You gave me a job when I needed it, so I already made it clear to the rest of them – they don’t come near you, or they have to deal with me, ya know?”
It was coming back to me a bit – Seth ran guns for me four or five years ago, then became part of Alice’s pack after that. He got himself caught because he couldn’t stop joyriding in expensive cars. Alice got sick of bailing him out, and let him take the time for grand theft instead. That had been eight months ago.
After two days in the infirmary, Seth pretty much stayed at my side wherever I went. At nearly six and a half feet tall, and built like he did nothing but life weights all day, no one seemed too interested in messing with him. I got the same treatment defacto.
…
Life in prison is weird when it comes to the relative nature of time.
Days absolutely crawl by – like, it takes about six hours for every minute to pass. But at the same time, days and weeks just kind of magically disappear. There’s so little to actually mark any change from one day to another that very small things tend to stand out. When someone got a letter from someone who loved them on the outside, or maybe a visit from someone, everyone listened to it. It ranked a lot higher than television.
In my first year of incarceration, I had exactly two visitors and one letter.
The first to visit was my public defendant. He had a lot of paperwork for me to sign, including an annulment for my marriage to Isabella Cullen. He told me the options were to either sign it, or they’d have to go through months or maybe years and possibly fraud charges against one or both of us to have it completely voided. I didn’t want Bella to have to deal with that, so I just signed them and tried to pretend it didn’t make me grow even colder inside.
The second visit was from a Ms. Mary Brandybuck. Ms. Brandybuck looked a lot more like Alice Brandon than a hobbit, but I guess that didn’t raise as much suspicion at the visitor’s desk. I was brought to the visiting room and placed in a little cubicle with an orange phone hanging on the pegboard wall. I picked up the receiver, and Alice did the same.
“I’m honored,” I said dryly.
Alice smirked and glared all at once.
“Just wanted to let you know everything’s good on the outside,” she told me.
“Got all the chips in barbecue flavor, I assume?” I asked, hoping I wasn’t being too cryptic.
“No problem at all,” she replied. “Our mutual techie friend lives for that kind of shit you know.”
I nodded, and then I looked into Alice’s eyes, rimmed with heavy black eyeliner. The flecks of gold in her hazel irises glimmered in the harsh fluorescents. They were not the least bit friendly as they narrowed at me.
“I’ll have you know,” she said as she leaned in a little closer, “that from the very beginning of all of this, I fully intended to complete this job by ending you.”
I felt the blood drain from my face.
“But seeing you here now, I kind of think this is more fitting.”
I nodded a little. Yeah, honestly, I’d take the bullet right now. Alice leaned in even closer to the Plexiglas.
“You been fucked over yet?”
I looked up. The glimmer was still in her eyes. I nodded once.
“Yeah.”
“Good.”
She slammed the phone back in its holder, then stood up, turned on her heel and walked out of the room.
The letter though…the letter was different.
It was from Bella.
It came shortly before the calendar marked my first year in prison. It had obviously been opened and examined and then sealed up again, but I didn’t care.
Edward,
I wish I knew what to say to you, but I don’t. I want to explain everything, but I don’t think it really makes any difference now. I want you to know that I didn’t expect you to do this, but I think I understand why you did.
When I wouldn’t testify against you, everyone was so angry with me, especially my dad. The prosecutor and another police officer kept yelling at me until my dad finally told them they couldn’t talk to me anymore. I figured out they couldn’t make me testify since we were married, and it would take too long to get the whole marriage license revoked. I thought it would mean they would have to drop the charged, but then they said you were going to plead guilty and I didn’t know what to do.
I know everything that happened was my fault, and I’m so sorry. I know they found us because I called home. I know how stupid that was now, but I just couldn’t think of them going through that whole day thinking I was probably dead. I couldn’t do that to them. I didn’t really think they could trace the call like that, and I thought it would take more time to do it, and we’d already be on our way back.
I wanted to see you, but no one would let me. I had to actually sneak out of the hotel and walk twenty blocks to get to your hearing at all, and then when I got there it was too late. I wanted to at least be able to talk to you before they took you away, but as soon as you were walked out my parents put me on a plane back to Washington. I don’t have enough money for a plane ticket, and I’m pretty sure my truck isn’t going to make it all the way there. I want to see you. I want to talk to you – I really do. I just haven’t figured out how yet.
Someone you know came to visit me while we were still waiting for your trial. She used some funny little thing that looked like a remote control near my head, and said it worked. I wanted you to know that. I wanted you to know that everything you did for me worked out. You saved me. I know you did, and I hope you know it, too.
I asked one of the guys at my dad’s station about prison sentences and how long before you could really be out. He told me you could be out in eight years. That’s not really so long, is it? I promise I will come and see you as soon as I can figure out how.
Please be careful, and take care of yourself.
Love,
Bella
I lay down on my cot and held the letter next to my chest. I could almost smell her on the paper, and hoped it would help me sleep. It really didn’t, and even after lights out, I kept holding it up to try and re-read it in the green glow of the emergency lighting outside the cell, which didn’t work well. Finally I lay back on the pillow with the paper underneath my head. I took my hand and lay it against my cheek, slowly brushing stray hairs from my forehead and rubbing my own temple.
I could at least remember and pretend, right?

SHE CALLED HOME? SHE CALLED HOME?
ReplyDeleteSKJS AKFLJFLJEWLGKJEGIJQEGLKNWEGNEGJHEWJGNEJKGNAJKGEBQLJFNH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dislike her VERY much right now!!!!
It's actaully quite interesting that nothing that has happened in the last 5-10 chapters has made me as angry as this!!!
ReplyDeleteAh, Edward. I have a feeling it might turn out OK. I think this whole prison term might turn out to be the perfect time for you to indulge in some contemplation and soul searching.
ReplyDeleteI am just going to have trust in you. I am sure this is the only way Edward would be able to live with himself.
ReplyDeleteUgh... Meh poor heart (or stomach) can't take it.
ReplyDeleteTy for posting again.
~@shelgibson
I am still sad! I feel bad for both of them! I hope things look up and they have a nice reunion. Edward really loves her. Maybe Bella can find a way to visit?
ReplyDeleteBreak my heart why don't ya.
ReplyDeleteoh man! now I really wanna cry.
ReplyDeleteThey are both idiots.
Tears. Thank you for not leaving us with the last chapter... this is so much better. My hearts still breaking for him though. I'm so looking forward to the uphill. Thank you for the updates.
ReplyDeleteDamn, Alice is vicious. This is so sad! I want things to work out for Doofy so badly! Can't wait till next update.
ReplyDeleteI'm crying here!
ReplyDeletePoor Edward, he's not a doofus right now, just a sad little boy.
So glad things will go uphill - can't take much sadder.
Gotta go reread the past 2 chapters again. Thanx for the double update!
ah, she said love bella! i would expect nothing else from alice.
ReplyDeleteOk so when Alice asked if he had been fucked over, did she mean raped??? I actually have tears in my eyes after reading this chapter. I can't believe Alice said she was going to kill him lol.
ReplyDeleteSorry, even with this chap and Bella's letter, the last chap was to much. Even Hide and Drink didn't upset me like this. Love all your stories, always have, and loved this for 87 chaps, but no more. No uphill for me, damage was done.
ReplyDeleteaww so glas she wrote to him. Cant wait to see where it goes
ReplyDeleteI hate you I really do I hate you!!!!!!!!!! do you really think this is better?!?!?!?! just tell me what are you think it will make this better? im still Fucking crying dammit
ReplyDeleteI think I found my theshold on how much angst I can take in one night....*going to bed angry now*
ReplyDelete.
.
which is never a good thing
this is still really bad but i hope you lead us to a good spot really soon, i really want him to get out and get back at his so called crew you know the bastards who took all his money and ditched him i think Bella really needs to step up more on her end and i don't know write more than once, once is not love. hope you give me more soon.
ReplyDeleteNo berate. Love you too much. I suspect that it is as painful for you to hurt your characters as it is for us to read about it.
ReplyDeletexx
"I swear, things will start going uphilll now." I counting on this because it hurts to much right now. Please, give me some joy, come on! Thanks for the updates.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to have faith in things starting to go uphill, but I just do not see it if he has to spend 8 yrs in jail. That is too long for Bella to put her life on hold and she is so young. I thought Alice was a little vicious and I am kinda of surprised that all of them have turned their back on Edward.
ReplyDeleteThough I do feel bad for the both of them I am glad that Edward is serving time. I think he needed to just for himself because he knows he can't ever make it right 100%. He plead guilty because he had to do what was best for Bella. Though this is an AN story it still has a bit of cannon Twilight. Edward being a basically selfish person, knowing he wasn't right for Bella and then him taking himself out of the picture. Great job Savage!
ReplyDeleteI'm really proud of Edward for manning up and doing the right thing. I know Bella wouldn't have expected him to do this, but I don't think he could've lived with himself if he hadn't. (So glad you posted this chapter right away--the last one just about gave me a heart attack.)
ReplyDeletePlease don't tell me you're going to make him stay in jail for 8 years?
ReplyDeleteYes, much better, thank you. Ahhhhh, that was painful to read. I had a feeling Alice intended to do that. The conviction she had to end it all had to include him. What I want to know now is what happened to his business and all the money. If he had that he could start to change his situation.
ReplyDeleteThanks God, Seth helped Edward, I almost have a heart attack. Oh, I am feeling like bitch-slapping Bella and Alice right now!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bitch! I can't believe she called home knowing her dad is a, umm I don't know , a COP!? I know Edward made a huge mistake but he tried to fix it for her. It was betterthan keeping her as a slave and treating her like shit. Edward did a lot for her and it sucks she got him in jail.
ReplyDeleteGah! Her letter and his response made my eyes water. *sniff*
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he at least has a protector now.
It's just all so sad and heartbreaking right now....
:'-(
UGH its been a year already I am so fucking intrigued now I mean I thought we were winding down in Paris and then WHAM I am so fully invested all over again!!!
ReplyDeleteawe she is gonna wait for him........I can't wait to see how she makes her way to see him.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, you are the best, I am so sad right now. I have very mixed feelings right now, obviously Bella calling home shows how immature & young she truly is. So in a way do you blame her, but then on the other hand what was she thinking truly not thinking about the consequences.
ReplyDeleteOh well l cant wait to start reading the uphill :)
I think Bella is a bigger idiot than Edward. Who the fuck calls her police dad on a cell phone? Specifially Edward's cell phone? That's like asking for trouble. She could have called her family by public phone or something. Poor Edward.
ReplyDeleteI love you Savage! I love you, I really do! Please don't do the "8 years later..." No I wouldn't be able to take it!
ReplyDeleteYeah, better than the last place. I'm not surprised in the least about Alice saying she would've killed him. And I do think that this is far better. Glad that Seth is keeping an eye on him. Not surprised at all at the annulment. I do hope that Bella can find a way out to see him because... really... she still needs to prove to him that she didn't leave, he's not alone. I feel so sorry for this guy. He was just an idiot. No one ever taught him how to care, how to feel, how to consider another person's feelings... nothing. Well, until Bella... she got through to him in a way that no one else ever did.
ReplyDeleteI think I"m going to go cry. You really are amazing you know. This crazy story that you started, just to kick your mojo or whatever. did you ever think it was going to become this?! A guy buys a sex slave and we all fall in love with him, including the slave! Only in FF world.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the ultra speedy update. And thank God! No more "punishment" . eight years. . . at least Belle would be a lot more grown up and have more say in her life than now.
ReplyDeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteI want to be mad at you for letting Bella made that call to his parents but I can't.
ReplyDeleteLike I can't be mad at Bella for calling his parents.
No parent should suffer as Renée and Charlie were doing without knowing if her daughter was alive or dead.
Eager for more...Thanks for the update.
And on a completely different note,
ReplyDelete90 chapters, Shay! 90!!!
407,000+ visitors!!!! Did you ever dream???
(it's actually kinda fun/interesting to sit and watch the counter flip, flip, flip. #weirdandboringlife, I know, lol)
I'm crying. Poor Edward trying to sooth himself by mimicking Bella running her fingers through his hair.
ReplyDeleteGlad he at least got a letter from Bella,,, and she did sign it "love"... Feel so sad for them both.. does it make your heart hurt when you are having to write about your charachters hurting so much?. ... the first year has gone... will the next 7 or so pass quickly as well?
ReplyDeleteI don't know who I feel worse for Edward or Bella. :(
ReplyDeleteAs much as I want to find a cell phone and hit Bella on the head with it until it's destroyed or she colappses, I think she is getting enough hate mail. And I wouldn't want Doufus to come after me later on. Speaking of him and later, 8 years?!?!?!?!? It's not right, it's too long, too f.... long. There has to be a faster way.About Bella and the call, I am sure she has been feeling guilty enough. Yes she had a good reason to do it; a reason that proved her age and her naiveness. She better find a way to go see him and soon!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really hope he doesn't have to serve his whole term but the letter from Bella will give him hope and the will to survive. It was heartbreakingly sweet when he was pretending to be caressed by Bella....makes me tear up just visualizing it :(
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he'll retaliate against those that failed him? Maybe he doesn't even see it that way? Alice is harsh but at least she got the chip deactivated and brought him the letter. She can't be all that bad, right?
Glad it's all uphill from here. My heart really hurts :(
You're such a great writer....look how your story has effected so many of us...makes me feel and think and I like that :)
I think its funny that everyone is so pissed at Bella. Geez. The girl has been through a lot...lol. And she is really really young... The whole 17 yr old sex slave giving blow jobs...yeah. That's sorta bad. Edward did the right thing.
ReplyDeleteBut it's sooooo sad for him!!!
Poor guy.
Ah, I so love your flawed characters. Edward being in prison but getting protection from someone that he helped out along the way is like karma. The same kind of karma that got him to where he's at now. And while people might berate your Bella (who acted out of love for her parents and with as much forethought as any 18 year old), she does realize her complicity in Edward's downfall. I don't expect her to wait 8 years, but then I don't expect Edward to be in prison for that long either. I'm glad to see that she is making it clear to him that she isn't leaving, even though they can't be together right now.
ReplyDeleteHis pain is breaking my heart, but then I also think that he deserved what he got and that it took a lot of courage and love to plead guilty to rape when he knew he could have gotten out of the charges. He continues to take responsibility for his actions and that, to me, make him a real man. Not one playing the part.
Let's see what you have up your sleeve for the uphill chapters.
TMOT
A YEAR? A f@@@ing year and only one letter? No phone calls? She could visit him! She could have spoken up at the trial. She could marry him again while he is in jail!
ReplyDeleteShe could get money from rose or em!
This sucks! Enough with the angst already!
PLEASE, after all this, at least let them be married and HEA at some point!
Still sobbing. :(
ReplyDeleteAt least he has an ally inside. For now. What happens when Seth gets out, though, and Edward's still there?
Not bailing - who the hell could bail now? All I can say is congigal visit(i know-wrong spelling...) but now their marriage is annulled so I guess none of that. Can't wait to see how they begin dialogue now. After a year to process everything it will be interesting to see if he is any more willing to verbalize his feelings...
ReplyDeleteI agree. I want to be mad at her, but I can't, no parent should have to go through that kind of pain.
ReplyDeleteI cried so hard for Edward, trying to comfort himself by pretending.
you are an idiot bella you fucked everything up and now ed is paying... yeah he was an asshole but he has tried so hard to fix everything and respect you but you disrespected him and called home.... i am soo pissed at you bella. and alice wtf!!! thanks bitch for nothing. so they did take all his money.. he has no one again he is like that little boy that everyone abdoned him,,, i just really want to cry for him really hard,,, 8 fucking years just for trying to do what is right..... this really sucks ASS!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat sucks is that Edward realized his mistake before going to prison. Isn't that what prison is for? He was trying so hard for Bella. Too hard. It sucks that he had to go to prison just because he was making it up to Bella.
ReplyDeleteHe does deserve this...but I'm really glad that Seth is there for him.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good to us, sharing THIS one and not leaving us with the last one!
Thank you!
Bella cullen.
ReplyDeleteI hope she stood up to her father, as an adult, and signed the annulment, but kept the name.
That would speak volumes to him when he sees her.
*sniffs*.... my heart is breaking for him ... I truly hate Alice, truly and deeply.. =P.. Charlie I know is upset, but he really needs to acknowledge what Edward did.. love Bella... Can't wait for the uphill you promise... *rocks back and forth*... @MoniNP
ReplyDeleteAww.. I forgot to say.... yay! for Seth... *phew*...
ReplyDeleteI am too drained to berate you. I understand that Bella was being controlled and that she would not have been able to get to him to talk to him or to try to help. And I understand that she does not have plane fare. But one letter in a whole year? Anybody can sneak and write a letter and drop it in the mailbox. All it costs is postage. But one letter in one year? Plus I am sure that Edward’s illegal businesses have been totally absorbed by Emmett, but what about his legal tech company? Are the assets still frozen? If not he could have someone send Bella airfare, not that he would because of the guilt. But one letter in one year? I really need to stop reading these stories. Because of my age, I think, I have a real problem dealing when they end up being separated for years. Truly Bella sounded very immature in her letter, and just the fact that she thinks 8 years is not so long screams youth. At 18 years old time seems forever. I really thought that she loved Edward. I thought she had given him her heart, but I really think I was wrong about that. Sadly though, Edward gave his heart to her. And plus I thought that she would feel really guilty for having made that phone call. And she did sound regretful of course, but definitely not guilt ridden. So once again, I am very disappointed in her. One letter...one year. Thank you for Seth though. At least Edward is physically safe while he is rotting away, unloved and abandoned, even by himself. And what was the deal with Alice? The only reason she came to visit him was to see if he was suffering. If he had seemed happy she would have problem had him killed anyway.
ReplyDeleteFuck. You did butt rape him. Oh well. Eight years?...*sniff* yeah I'm fucking crying at work. Oh man, I think I really need CBWR-anon right now...1-800-LUV-DOOF :,(
ReplyDeletethat last paragraph gave me a hart breaking mental image.
ReplyDeletei little kid soothing himself by hugging his little blanket.
it is true many of today's evil are collateral damage from bad parenting, but where a rough childhood can explain the motives behind behavior, it does not excuse crime.
so, yeah, i knew from the start Edward had to go to jail.
now i just hope he gets something like this for a HEA or 'sort of' version.
you all watched lost, right?
8 years! Really?
ReplyDeleteI hope Bella would find a way to see Edward soon.
Fuuuuuuucccccckkkkkkkkkk! 8 years that sucks
ReplyDeleteWhat really pisses me off is not only the fact that the IDIOT called home like a total dumbass she ALSO lied about her age AND she has the audacity to send a letter?!?! I really hope she loses him...I hope he gets out of jail and doesn't want anything to do with her stupid ass! At this point I wouldn't care if you killed them BOTH off...they're both equally pathetic and stupid.
ReplyDeleteIt feels all kinds of wrong and yet in a certain way right... I feel empty inside.
ReplyDeleteDamn! I'm not even sure what to say... So Alice ended up being a bad guy and was really out to get him from the start. Then you let him be raped in prison? Wow, I'm really struggling with that one. Finally she writes him... I'm not disappointed in her. Keep in mind people, this girl was in HIGH SCHOOL! Her hands are tied...
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for a time jump but i'm thinking I'm going to have to bail on this story for a couple of days until those better times start coming along. I cried too damn much in the past 3 chapters.
I just want to give a huge THANK YOU! for leaving out the actual rape scene. That probably would have made me blow chunks with my heart breaking so hard for him. I mean, prison rape ain't no joke, just ask my uncle (badum bum ching). He never admitted it, but he's a small dude, and what happens in prison, stays in prison. It's like Vegas, but without the lights and women. You might want to see it, but you should just save yourself the trouble. Maybe Edward should pull a Shawshank and hook the guards up with his "financial advisors" so that they reciprocate by beating the ever living shit out of those dudes.
ReplyDeleteYou said that this one is supposed to leave us feeling better, but I'm a mess. I havent cried this hard since I read the first story I read on FF - Wide Awake. Great story, that one and this one too, even though it breaks my heart. Looking forward to the "uphill" part.
ReplyDeletei don't know what she didn't speak up in court the judge would had to hear her because she was the victim. she could have gotten him a lesser sentence let her get him out of jail sooner. i hope there is a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteMUCH better place to leave us, thank you. It's nice to see the Edward-Seth friendship here (especially under the circumstances!) I just hope those guys didn't give him AIDS or something.
ReplyDeleteGotta love this line: 'Ms. Brandybuck looked a lot more like Alice Brandon than a hobbit' But man, Alice is unforgiving. I guess I figured that.
And the letter from Bella was a welcome sight, particularly the way she signed off. It's clear that she still wants him in her life, and that she's prepared to wait.
I know it was stupid of her to make that call, but I still can't be angry with her for it. She didn't mean to do wrong—she was worried about her parents and didn't realize they could trace it so fast. In other words, she had a Doofus moment. Doofus himself had plenty of those, so we should cut her some slack.
I think what Bella did was foolish, but like you I can't be mad at her. She made a mistake, and clearly she wishes she could take it back. Edward made a mistake by not answering Rose's calls (among other things). I don't hate him for that either.
ReplyDeleteOMFG! She called home WTF! But I can't blame her, she missed her family. And 8yrs in the pen right? OMG!?!?
ReplyDeleteRose is the computer techy not Alice... it was Rose who deactivated the chip... remember they were waiting just a couple more days for Rose to figure out if "deactivation worked" and then she was going to come do the same for Bella? And Alice did not bring the letter from Bella... it came separately. It had been opened probably by prison security at exactly the one year mark. Who knows how how long they had it for.
ReplyDeleteThis is sad. sigh.
ReplyDeleteGotta agree with this - really disappointed Bella only sent one letter in the year. She kept telling him she wouldn't leave him alone and that she would take care of him. Realize that that would be hard now, but, really, she couldn't write him a little more often? In effect, she did abandon him, just like everyone else did. Even if she was embarrassed and didn't know what to say, how about "hi" and "thinking of you"? Oh, well, hopefully better days ahead!
ReplyDeletePoor Doofus....He's just getting shit on from all sides, eh? At least he has a "kind-of" love letter from Bella. This will keep him going for awhile. "Things will start going uphill now?" OMG...can't wait to see what's next! I don't think I've ever been so invested in a FF story! I check this site 10 times a day, looking for an update!
ReplyDeleteRegardless of all the shizz and begging, and chastising, this is one hell of a story, and so well thought out, and so well written!
Thanks, bb....you're the best!
xoxoxoSus
Two visits and 1 letter. Doesn't anyone else care.? I guess not.
ReplyDeleteHe killed the people who ran the ring, he is without his love, he's in jail and he's been raped. I don't think I can take much more :( However, I am with you until the end. I hope Edward's mother has had a horrible life. It was her job to protect and teach him, instead he has learned all the wrong ways. I am ever hopeful the world of Edward & Bella will right itself ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this story from your dark and twisted mind! Seriously people, it's a fun action flick. Suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride!
ReplyDeleteSo interesting to me that edward being raped is a dealbreaker for some, but not Bella or the other women. No judgement, just saying.
ReplyDeleteI'm always surprised when ff manages to bum me out (I'd like to think I'm better than that lol) but you got me with these chapters! Not that that's a bad thing, and I do think it was absolutely necessary. Real consequences for shitty actions keeps your taking on human trafficking legit. I signed up for a savage story and that's what I got. Wouldn't change a thing.
<3 green
I fucking love you. This is such an awesome story! Mwah!
ReplyDeleteSurely, Emmett or Jasper would help her get out to see hi,. Maybe she could go to college somewhere near the prison and she would be able visit all the time. If they got remarried they might get conjugal visits. ;) I can see it now. Bella will get so desperate to see him that she will take up stripping, drug dealing or gun running to be able to get the money. Who's running the Tech company? Angela?
ReplyDeleteI like that she really tried to be there for Edward. I didn't expect anything less from her, but still, she's a peach.
ReplyDeleteYou say things are going up from here. You better not be lying.
Right on, girls!!! Couldn't agree with you more!! Shame on Bella!!! Stupid twat!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Shay I was reading over the comments and something stood out, which reminded me of your author's note at the top... don't hurt me or I won't be able to finish... or something like that. The comment said please don't jump ahead the rest of the eight years. Of course do what you think is best, but just wanted to say I hope you continue to tell the story without jumping ahead too much or ending it soon. I want to know what happens to them and for us to get from A to B... with them continuing to heal... being open with each other about how they each feel, getting to know each other again, figuring out their lives individually and together, I think. I am way to addicted to this story for it to end too abruptly. I hope they find their way back to "Home" where Bella can brush his hair away to rub his temple and stroke his cheek and he can fall asleep holding her with his head resting in "his spot" in the hollow of her neck and shoulder. Home. I think he deserves to have one and even though Bella is young I think she will surprise all the naysayers and come through for Edward... and save him, just like he saved her.
ReplyDeleteI....But...She.... UGH! shes 18 and could go to the police and get the charges dropped her damn self!!!!!!!!!! GD woman!!!!! im over thinking this damn story give me some UC so I can rest my brain!
ReplyDeleteOH and a BJ from an underage girl over the age of consent (which is 16/17 in almost all states) wouldnt even be statutory rape. granted what happend was rape BUT he wouldnt have gotten 15 years for it. a BJ....im thinking would be closer to 3-4. at least around here.
ReplyDeleteOh Doofy, you're too pretty to get f'd up in prison... :(At least Seth is there to look after you now. She signed it "Love, Bella" -- and she's 19 now and out of high school. I wonder if she's coming soon (you did say we're starting uphill now). No amount of beat-down is going to make ammends, Doofy. Bella has forgiven you, it's time for you to forgive yourself...
ReplyDeleteThat last paragraph was so sad. I am looking forward to the uphill now because this is just heartbreaking. I know he deseverved the jail time for what he did and he did do the right thing by Bella, but you know we want him out of there now! Bella's letter was a bit cold I thought and why did it take her almost a year to contact him? That was a bit heartless. I really don't blame her for making the phone call because she is still very young and probably really didn't know a cell phone could be traced. I hope she doesn't break his heart. And as for Alice? How foolish I was to think that she might be on his side after all, the bitch! Thanks the gods for Seth.
ReplyDeleteAww I think what he did for Bella is amazing--stupid but heroic nonetheless. Can't wait for the next update. Don't let the negtive comments discourage you :)
ReplyDeleteUm, it kinda' sucks that he's stuck on the inside... it's already been way, way, way too long that he's been in there. He should be out. What are you going to do about it? This is all on you, you know...
ReplyDeleteOh, btw, yeah, I agree with everyone else... Bella is an idiot... wtf, she called her Dad???!!! Ef!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... maybe E should get out early.. move on with a smarter chick, and B gets cockblocked for life in some way only you could imagine... works for me... I like it...
Just wanted to point out to everyone - Please don't forget the hell Bella went through b/c of Edwards request for a sex slave. She was kidnapped, locked in a smelly wet cold basement box, forced to give James and god knows who else blowjobs, SHE GOT TAZED IN THE COOTER FOR CHRISTS SAKE PPL! All at the age of 17! So yeah I can see now why Edward let himself get beaten and raped. At least Savage didn't get graphic with that shit. I'm NOT bailing on this story now. No way Jose!
ReplyDeleteViva la Savage! LOL!! Who's with me? ;D
Oh shit! Her ring! Totally forgot about that until I was ready some older chaps. Do she still have it? I would think so. She could sell that and probably buy a nice car to drive back and forth to visit him. Maybe a house to live in near the prison?
ReplyDeleteThis one makes it 3 chapters. Will I stop crying tonight? Too early to know now.
ReplyDeleteA message for Bella:
Yeah, sure you IDIOT, 8 years are not long at all! Especially in prison. When he gets out he will just be almost 40 and still have plenty of time to keep feeling rejected be everyone in life. But you, by that time you will have live a wonderful life with all your friends and family and yes, even a cute (not!) new husband. Just make sure you name your first boy Edward please. Oh, and the second Anthony, that will make it all even.
Rant over, but still crying :(
Yes...she had called her parents... because she couldn't live with herself in the lap of luxury, as her lover in her lap spelling his name. I get it. Foolish? Perhaps, but she was a kidnapped girl taken from her parents. I was always surprised at saga Bella's decision to accept that her parents must believe she was dead and she would have, if Jake had not intervened; I mean... who does that? Oh yeah... Doofy's parents left him for dead, so he may not have realized what he asked of young Bella was so painful for her. He seemed so strong and in control, surely this one small call home would not be the end of their world, as a young teen would imagine, right?
ReplyDeleteWell, even big strong arms dealers have their silly illusions it would seem.
It will be interesting to see what this reset button will mean for the both of them now that they are out of their 'honeymoon' and the bill of sale/marriage license is void.
You have quite the challenge ahead of you, dear Savage, but you got the keenest chops for it that I know....
sigh... him stroking his hair as she did...
So just started reading this yesterday... I planned to leave like an 'overall' review when I got up to the current chapter but, I caught up at such a dramatic place in the story my overall will just have to wait.
ReplyDeleteGOOD FOR BELLA calling her parents. Gee who should she have more loyalty to? Her parents who she loves and who have cared for and protected her all her life, who she knows are suffering/greiveing greatly or to the guy she stopped hating a month or so ago? Come on people. I am sure her need to comfort her parents outweighed the potential (and unlikely in her mind) risk to Edward. Too bad it didn't work out like she thought. I bet she feels horrible even though she really shouldn't.
Wow. Edward's guilty plea was a surprise but really what could come between the two of them if he denied what he did to her? How would she feel about that in the long term? And honestly the entire time they were on the run together he only blamed himself for putting her in the position to be victimized by Aro and the rest. he never took responsibility for what he forced upon her until his lawyer pointed it out. I felt bad for what happened to him in prison, that was until I remembered JAMES and his TASER. Still glad Seth is there and this wont be happening again, I hope. Please don't emmasculate our hero.
What's up with this Alice. I mean I get that this is a horrible disgusting crime but she is taking this very personally. I fee like there's more to know here...
Ok the one letter in a year thing is kinda... Shitty for lack of a better word. Maybe there's a good reason though. I actually heard on the news in RL they let people in prison get on FB just FYI. Have to say that one totally shocked me. I thought the point of prison was to separate criminals from the rest of society. Guess the prison peepes are low tech types who haven't heard of things like parental controls, lol.
Alice is a massive bitch, and I really hope that somehow, someway, karma gets her back. I have to say I feel so bad for Edward, 8 years is way too long to be in jail and I really hope you find a way around that. I have a feeling something greater than finances have kept Bella away, her letter was odd and I wonder what she has been through in the last year.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I'm not sure
ReplyDeleteBella cares about him...she didn't fight for him as she should have, if she
really cared. She was legally an adult, and had every right to stand on her own
and make her own choices. Her parents couldn’t control her as she says they did
in the letter, unless she let them. And it's crap to say eight years isn't a
long time. Frankly, for how committed she seemed to him, she's a big disappointment
in my eyes...
I was glad that Seth helped Edward, and I really hoped that, when Edward confirmed
to Alice that he was fucked over, it didn't mean that he was
also raped....shit!
So far, he is the one who did the right thing when shit hit the fan...Bella?
She did nothing to help him, although she knew that, if he hadn't fallen in
love with her, she would never have made it to freedom or a normal life again.
Did she never defend him? Did she never tell anyone of his accusers that she
doesn't support any rape charges against him? Because I know for a fact a rape accusation
doesn't mean shit if the victim says otherwise...
I feel that Edward is paying a too high price, considering that he ended up
loving the girl. In some criminal laws, marrying the victim even absolves the
man from any rape accusation. So, the fact that he was sentenced only based on
his own admission, coupled with Bella's failure to help him, seems too much for
me....
I understand though his need
to atone, and hope that he will get out of prison as a better man. But
considering that he put his life on the line to free Bella, even if it was his
fault that she became his sex slave in the first place, and Bella did nothing
to help him back, makes me unsure if she really is worth waiting or fighting
for….
I just have no words they both did things without thinking about the other and now look where there at I really want to see them get there heads out of there asses and stop feeling sorry for themselves and fix this so they can be together.....
ReplyDeleteI'm a little worried about some of these readers. How are people mad at Bella for calling home? If we are all reading the same story, "Poor Edward" bought her... for sex... when she was 17. All of the things that he did to try and save her were nice, but would not have been necessary had he not bought her. Now we're mad that she called her parents when she had a chance? I hope that nothing ever seperates you from your children. That's craziness! Whether we love him or not, Eddie deserves to be in jail. And as for Bella falling in love with him... seriously? HE BOUGHT HER! TO BE A SEX SLAVE! SHE'S BARELY 18! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL?! SHE'S THE VICTIM, NOT HIM!
ReplyDeleteI think I should point something out to you Savage before I give any more reviews in future chapters. Nothing that I write is directly against you or how you decide to write the story. I see every story like a TV series. Sometimes I don't agree with what happens but my rants and fights are with the characters not the writers. So please never take anything I write personal, even if it looks that way, because its not. Most of the time I’m not even rational because it’s fiction and even if it gets really close at how real life works it’s still fiction so I like to be irrational.
ReplyDeleteThat being said I have something else to say to Bella. I really hope she get to know that Edward got raped and beaten up because in the end she decided to call her parents even when she knew it was not save to do it. And one year!!! One freaking year before she decided to send a letter, really! Did stamps got that expensive that she couldn’t afford to send one earlier?
Alice, what can I say? I didn’t want to hate you but you are making it pretty difficult for me. Yeah, its growing on me, keep that up and I might actually say it someday.
Maybe quoting myself from my own review might explain why some readers like me are mad at Bella.
ReplyDelete"Most of the time I’m not even rational because it’s fiction and even if it gets really close at how real life works it’s still fiction so I like to be irrational."
First of all. Mary Brandybuck. Nice name for Alice, but much as I'd like to laugh I can't. Ugh Alice. I guess I can see her point. She doesn't know what changes and thoughts are going on inside head but she knows what he did to try to free her. Most of us irl would say that someone who bought a sex slave should die. Or at least get "fucked over" in prison. Btw, being fucked over doesn't necessarily mean that he was raped. It could mean that he was simply beat up that one time. But we don't know what happened during that whole assault.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how viscious some of you are being to Bella about calling. I know it was stupid, but she was barely 18!!!
I am perplexed by the letter. Why only one? Too guilty to write?
Roshambo
He is a victim also. He bought her because he is a victim. To the core, he still is the neglected, unloved child, who was abandoned by the parents who should have loved him and who was never made to feel that there is any worth in love, until he met Bella. He still believes himself unworthy of love.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm not mad at her for calling her parents. I'm just dissapointed that, after she stopped behaving like the victim in their relationship and practically jumped Edward's bones (she was the one who wanted a wedding night so much, not him) she didn't follow through, she didn't make a statement to support his case. Without the victim's charge, there is no rape....If she didn't make that statement, although she could have, maybe she wanted him to go to jail...then why did she give her virginity to him? It sounds like double standards to me. If she didn't care about him, she shouldn't have insisted so much to be with him.
And please, don't be worried about anyone. The situation is so complicated, and there are so many pros and cons to what both of them did, that there is room for a lot of different opinions.
I seriously just want to cry. To tired and depressed to yell at you for doing all of this but you say its gonna start getting better so it better or I will yell at you when I have the energy.
ReplyDeleteI bet Bella has been in a coma... yeah, that's it... she was in a coma, and couldn't contact E, or try to help him out in any way.... 'cuz why the hell else would you let someone you love rot in prison if you could do something about it??!! And hey, you people out there making an argument that she's just a little 18 year old girl... who was taken advantage of... and she was right to contact Charlie... ef that, it's a story... fiction... not reality... so get over it. Fantasy is fun!
ReplyDeleteHe was fucked in the ass?
ReplyDeleteWow, Alice is more of a bitch than I thought. I bet Bella will go to college and study law.
ReplyDeleteso, did e actually get raper or was seth able to save him before it happened? understand the e did wrong, a lot wrong - so is jail really wrong? he bought a sex slave and is basically an arms dealer who has killed people. it's just hard because it's e and we see more to him. disappointed in b - she could have wrote sooner and the letter wasn't much. could understand if she was angry with him, but they seemed to have gotten past that point with each other. 8 yrs is a really long time. she was 18 and married to e when she came back, so if she really wanted to see him, she probably could have. wondering how you will resolve this - wondering if you will actually keep him in jail for 8 yrs
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of horrified at all the anti bella stuff.....I mean yeah I get it....Bella is always wrong in FF..the girl has to be a saint for anyone to like her. But come on people. She was 17...she thought her mother had been killed...she was forced to give blow job to disgusting people and electric zapped if she cried. She saw what a broken person doofy was....came to love him I think even after she knows he pretty much hand picked her and was the sole reason she was kidnapped. She's home now and her parents probably keep a watchful eye on her. She's written to him after a year...that says she's not giving up on him...she still thinks of him and wants to see him. She tells him that eight years isn't long...to me she's saying...I'll wait eight years for you.
ReplyDeletehi how long he been i jail for ?
ReplyDeleteAAWWWWW! It's so nice that Bella sent Edward a letter. I just hope that she can find a way to see him soon.
ReplyDeletePretending is good. It is how a lot of us survive and find a way to live. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteOk... that was a bit better. You write it so real... my ex was in prison so I know all about the "politics" in there and how they feel when they finally receive a letter. You made this chapter very believable. I really do hope things go up... cause he can't get much lower, right? Thank you for a great chapter!
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is wrong with everyone? Seriously. People are mad at Bella for calling home after she was kidnapped? I hope none of you are ever seperated from your children. And "Poor Edward"? Poor Edward deserves to be in jail. HE BOUGHT HER... FOR SEX... WHEN SHE WAS 17! The fact that he didn't know she was 17 doesn't make that much of a difference. He still did it. Sure he's taken care of her and kept her safe, but none of that would be necessary if he hadn't BOUGHT HER! She's a kid who was taken against her will, and tortured. You're mad that she called home, or that she didn't write more often, or that she hasn't found away to see him yet. You realize how sick that is, right? I mean, I love this story, but people scare me. Someone said "I thought she loved him, and gave him her heart." WTF?! HE BOUGHT HER!!! HE RAPED HER! Even he knows it.
ReplyDeletei agree 500% on EVERYTHING u said .. cudn't have said it better
ReplyDeleteu said exactly how i feel
i agree 500% on EVERYTHING u said .. cudn't have said it better
ReplyDeleteu said exactly how i feel
Perfect post! I'm so disappointed in Bella. I doubt she loves him.
ReplyDeletethey'r both victims .. im not mad at her for calling her parents , im mad that she got him in trouble doing it .. and yeah he's fucking stupid and nothing can make buying her right .. but he really gets that
ReplyDeletei really hated the blowjob he made her give him and i think he should pay for that but he's still a victium too .. no child should go through what he did
in the ned this is fiction so we all know slavery and buying her is not forgiveable , but as our heroes in this story we don't want them to suffer anymore .. and forgive us for wanting them to actually have a HEA
u made me cry reading this .. im mad at bella YES SUE ME .. she cud'v called from a payphone , she cud feel more guilty about it at least .. and 8 years rn't long ??? really ???? i get that maybe she wants him to know that she'll always be there for him and that she's gonna wait and not abandon him like the ppl in his life did
ReplyDeleteim still pissed .. yes i wanted him to pay for what happened but not like this .. and omg i can't read about another more 7 years of life in prison
and seriously WTF is with Alice .. now that was fucked up .. she wants him to suffer but oh she sends Bella lengerie on her trip with him ???? BITCH
"I took my hand and lay it against my cheek, slowly brushing stray hairs from my forehead and rubbing my own temple. I could at least remember and pretend, right?" - oh, it made me tear up. So glad he got this letter, he has something to hope for now.
ReplyDeleteYes he knows it! And he's doing all he can to atone! He's a changed man...doesn't it count for anything?
ReplyDeleteAnd why did she insist with giving her virginity to him, if all she felt for him was that she was his victim still? If I recall correctly, it was her who made him give her that wedding night, not the other way around.
I feel sorry for Edward, not because he's Edward, but because he is a man who didn't have a freaking chance to live until he met Bella. He was always unloved, unwanted, abandoned. The people who should have loved him and tought him what love was and what he should want from life, how he should treat others, left him to live alone on the cold ground...He had a shit of a life growing up, and learnt to make it in the crime world because there was no one to show him different, and maybe even because he didn't think himself worthy enough to become someone better, after being tossed aside like he was nothing...
Yes, what he did to Bella was horrible, and he wants to atone for that. But he's already endured a life without love until he met her, a life that turned him into the heartless bastard he was at the time he bought her. So now, that he's realized his crimes and he wants to atone, maybe he shouldn't be judged so harshly.
He deserves to be in jail? If we look only at his crimes, surely he does, but when you look at how much time he's done already, being completely alone and emotionally numb because no one ever loved or wanted him, I'm not so sure.
And the only thing I don't like about Bella is that she gave herself to him, corrupting his will to do so, only to leave him alone when things got tough for him...Why did she do it, if she had no feelings for him and still thought that she was only his victim? And why did she practically abandon him, if she did care about him?
I'm not sick for asking myself this questions, but only very intrigued by her behavior.
Agree completely with everything EnamoredHeart said... He is a victim also. He bought her because he is a victim. To the core, he still is the neglected, unloved child, who was abandoned by the parents who should have loved him and who was never made to feel that there is any worth in love, until he met Bella. He still believes himself unworthy of love. And I'm not mad at her for calling her parents.
ReplyDeleteAnd if people would stop and remember back....
Once upon a time there was a boy in a mans body, who was told he could buy someone who wouldn't leave him. Who was told she was trained and made the assumption that she wasn't just taken off the streets. When he received his purchase he realized the enormity of the situation and tried to make amends. He never forced himself on the girl. She begged him for sex. He was scared and unwilling to hurt the girl. He still gave into her wishes but he was gentle and kind to her. And she saw the little boy he truly was. How anyone can think an eye for an eye in this situation merits him being raped and stuck in jail for 8+ years best take a good look at themselves in the mirror.
And Alice, honestly if you didn't want Edward to lay a hand on her what's with the lingerie?
Someone better have taken that money and put it somewhere safe. Bella was his wife. Perhaps one of his associates wasn't a complete selfish prick and created an account for her.
I read the comments about Bella, so I want to add what I think about her. I believe that if she could do anything more to help him in court, she would, but she couldn't. She knew how her parents felt and she needed to do something about it and to call them. She chose to ignore the risk because of that and now she is paying for this decision, being away from him, blaming herself for his being in prison. She wrote one letter to explain her actions, but she doesn’t know how he feels about her now, probably is afraid that she has lost him and he may hate her and wouldn’t want to contact her, that’s why she doesn’t write more.
ReplyDeleteThe last image of Edward lost in his memories of Bella and trying to soothe himself is just heartbreaking! I keep thinking of the precious little boy, looking forward to Sunday and asking, "bath?"...
ReplyDeleteI think I might be in the minority here with my attitude to Edward. It actually offends me a little that people call him Doofy. Once we found out the depth of his abuse and neglect, shouldn't our response be compassion? I absolutely think he needs to be held accountable for his wrongdoings! But, I also absolutely think he needs to be loved. He certainly has done everything he could to atone for his misdeeds.
Bella shouldn't have called. If I recall correctly, he even told her it was dangerous and she just needed to be patient a little longer. But, she is young and naive. It was a mistake and she seems contrite. The thing is, for those that think that Edward deserves whatever he gets for what she went through - it seems to me that Edward was also naive. In a different way, but still naive. He didn't know what getting someone from Aro really entailed. He is still responsible, but to me it does make a difference that he didn't know that they would torture her to train her and when he found out, he was so very horrified.
They are both victims. They both have scars. The difference is that Edward's wounds are over 20 years in the making, and were never tended to by anyone. Years and years of neglect, abuse, and being abandoned and unloved.
Then there's Alice. What a self-righteous witch! I have rarely hated a character as much as I hate her (and honestly, the rest of the team he assembled)! Why doesn't ANYONE say, "you know what, you totally messed up... you have been a jerk... you deserve punishment... BUT, you are taking drastic steps to try to fix what you can... you are obviously sorry... you're doing the best you can." Alice is the worst, though. I agree with one of the other comments that pointed out that she makes no sense. She is so nasty to Edward, but she sent Bella to Europe with lingerie. What? And, yes, Edward tried to buy a person, but Alice MURDERS people for a living. Perspective!!
I really do need to remind myself that it's just a story! My emotions are quite high!
I think that says something about your skill as a writer, that there are so many of us that are passionate about your story! Good Job!
Agreed. I'm out too. Prison rape is kind of a line for me. lol
ReplyDeleteAfter a restless night spent trying to get to sleep while pondering this story, I think I finally understand what's bugging me the most.
ReplyDeleteWhy yes Bella! Eight years in prison is not "really that long." Eight years in prison is a walk in the park! A picnic! A piece of cake. You go ahead and think whatever allows you to sleep at night. Bitch.
And to answer your question Ms. Savage...no. It couldn't get any worse.

After a restless night, trying to get to sleep while pondering this story, I think I understand what my biggest problem is...
ReplyDeleteWhy yes, Bella. Eight years in prison is "not really so long." It'll be a walk in the park. A picnic. A freakin' piece of cake. You go on thinking whatever allows you to sleep at night. Bitch.
oh, and Ms. Savage? To answer your ubiquitous question...no, it could not be worse.
VW, honey, I'm right there with you. I agree with everything you said and you are not in the minority on your feelings towards Edward. Read the other reviews. Talk about Savage being an awesome writer....which she is....well, you are too. Well said. My emotions run high also on these stories also. I have to watch what I read b/c if something bad happens, I'm devastated for days..
ReplyDeleteBest story I ever read. I am CCP it so I can save it on my iPad in PDF form, and read it anytime I want. Its really
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others...I feel so bad for Edward! Bella needs her damn head smacked off! She is young, but seriously how damn stupid can you be???? And yeah he screwed up by "buying" her for his personal needs, however I feel he tried to make it right by giving himself up. He didnt need to get "beat up"!!! Anyway, I seriously luv you Savage! You keep me so in to the story as you can tell!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy opinion of Edward is exaclty the same, written somewhere below...
ReplyDeleteAnd you nailed the bitchiness of Alice quite right!
I have read some of the review where people are saying Bella
ReplyDeleteis a bitch; I don’t think that she is.
Were people are saying that were she said that 8 year is not
long, I believe she is tell her self this, as well as try to stay positive for
Edward, right now she can see him getting out sooner.
She also said that she want to see him, but need money to
get there therefore she has not given up on him.
As for only one letter the only things I can think of is,
she see a therapist who has told her the what she feel for Edward is Stockholm
Syndrome therefore by not talking to him she and Edward are test or sort out
what they real feel.
Also he need to go to jail, hopeful he only spend the year
there, so when there get together for real this is no worry about him getting
found out
she also singed it LOVE Bella so she told him in a way that she love him
Umm... I don't know why everyone is hating on Bella. She's 18... she's easily persuaded. Maybe, MAYBE, she was trying to figure out if her feelings towards Edward were real, or if she just felt sorry for him, maybe she wanted to fix him, or MAYBE she was being convinced that she had Stockholm syndrome. It's tough to trust yourself after having been through something like that. Plus she never told Edward she loved him, but she did write it in her letter... progress? Also, what's with the hate on for the other peeps? Edward NEVER said he considered any of them as "friends" or that he trusted them to do anything other than their hired jobs. Alice has been wanting to kill him since the beginning, so no shocker there. Seems to me people are reading what they want, and not what is actually written.
ReplyDeleteSavage- you kick ass!
Wow my emotions are so all over the place right now I don't deal with angst well so i am so glad i saved the last five chaps up and read them all at once i would have been going nuts having to wait for each chap.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that i am kind of in love with this Edward because he maybe be flawed but he is a perfect example of the sum of all the parts making the whole not just one action.
I so hope that their love for one another can with stand the years because i think she is the only one who can save Edward.
Keep up the excellent work bb
*chanting* uphill...uphill...uphill...uphill...
ReplyDeletebecause I can't imagine getting worse than that...ok scratch that...really don't want to know if it is possible....you have too much fucking skills on that department...
really want to do bad things to Alice though...how about a fist punch from Bella??? no? anyone??? ok nevermind...
*chanting* uphill...uphill...uphill...uphill...
Am I the only one picturing Savage eating popcorn with a cheshire cat grin on her face reading all this drama?
ReplyDeleteOh man. I can't believe it's almost a year! And Bella writes to him and signs it Love Bella
ReplyDeleteThat's my sentiments exactly! Well said!
ReplyDeleteSAD,SAD,SAD. Even if he gets out he;ll still have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. Bella's guilt must be tearing her up.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Bella wrote him a love letter.... ONE YEAR LATER. What the hell is in her head??? I'm so pissed off at her and Alice. Poor Edward, to think of a grown man to cuddle with a fucking letter and pretend someone was caressing him.... :'( him.... :'(
ReplyDeleteShe have writtan more but they withheld them. Maybe this is the only one that passed inspection.
ReplyDeleteI read Alice as what she is. A cold blooded murderer who thinks she is right to comit murder for money, and that she actually has the right to judge other people or to think she is better than them, and I hated her exactly for what is written about her.
ReplyDeleteAs for the rest of the gang, I pretty much don't care, but Jasper thought himself superior to Edward also, though he is nothing but another member of the organized crime. I don't hate him, but I can't love him either. And if Emmett stole all of Edward's money and his business, he did what any mobster would do, but that doesn't make me love him, just feel disgusted by this possibility.
The reason why most of the readers hate Alice I think, is because she judges Edward only by appearances, never giving him the benefit of the doubt, and she was the only one from the gang directly agressive with him and ready to play God where he is concerned. And she's so far from God...in fact, she may have some serious reckoning to do with Him, when her time comes...
I totally agree with you VW! The Alice character is a bitch! What she's doing is ok???? Come on! Just because she didn't buy a slave?? What about the other shit she is into. I agree Edward was never loved and no one ever stayed with him. I want something better than him serving 8 -10 years and ahavingi Bella waiting for him
ReplyDeleteAhhh I love the smell of victim-blaming in the morning. This story just screams for victim-blaming. Poor "Doofy" bought a girl for sex, raped her, and it's all the victim's fault he's in jail. Let's hate on the rape victim. Nice to see this fandom hasn't changed.
ReplyDelete*chanting* uphill...uphill...uphill...uphill...
ReplyDeletebecause I can't imagine getting worse than that...ok scratch that...really don't want to know if it is possible....
really want to do bad things to Alice though...
*chanting* uphill...uphill...uphill...uphill...
I think Alice needs her pixie ass kicked! She is such a bitch! As far as Edward serving his sentence and having Bella waiting for him, which seems to be the way this is headed, I think he would be too fucked up from being in prison that long so I hope it is not going that route..please make me happy savage....very sad for Edward right now...it's not all his fault
ReplyDeleteShe better save him!
ReplyDeleteWow! I just...WOW! that's all!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree...I do the same as far as checking for updates and Savage is one hell of a writer, I think we all agree witht that!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!! I never thought we would get here from where we started! Loved Bella's letter.
ReplyDeleteYes Edward is a victim, but so are almost ALL of the inmates in prison. Horrible childhoods and abuse. Almost all of child molesters were victims themselves. That does not give them a free pass.
ReplyDeleteEdward put himself in prison. NOT Bella. He could have made it through the trial but he took the plea. He needs this to redeem himself.
As much as I feel for Edward and HATE that he is in prison, I know this is what he needs to do for himself and for Bella. Even if he doesn't get her in the end.
Roshambo
Gosh that is hard to say.
Type your comment here.I'm really loving this story, even where it is at the moment. For any number of reasons I think Edward had to go to prison. He'd never come to terms with not being punished for what happened to Bella - at the hands of others if not his own. So I'm not angry at him for doing what he felt he had to do - for Bella, for himself and for justice maybe.
ReplyDeleteNot angry at Bella either for phoning home. She's obviously caring and empathtic which is why she cared so much for Edward and was able to recognize, young as she was, how much his early life had scarred him. It's because she's like this that she can't bear to think of her parents spending her birthday no knowing if she's alive or dead. Oh and she's a 18 yr old who's just had unspeakable things happen to her!
Edward is heartbreaking. The fact that he doesn't seem to miss anything from his old life or feel any sense of deprivation in prison just shows how empty and lonely it was. And the end, with him curled up in bed with Bella's letter, pretending his hand is her hand in his hair made me tear up at work and I had to improvise a coughing fit to explain my watery eyes.
Don't know what awaits Edward when he gets out of prison. Don't now how Bella feels about him as she grows up while he's in there but I'm looking forward to finding out. And I hope, someday, that Edward and the sad abandoned little boy who still lives inside him will find some kind of peace and happiness and is it too much to hope....someone who stays.
heart, mine is broken.
ReplyDeleteHe breaks my heart with his memories, his thoughts, his need for comfort. Surely Bella will graduate, move near his prison, go to college because they are perfect for each other, right?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've quite ever disliked a writer so much before! Eight years...really!?!?!
ReplyDeleteMy 2 cents. I really hated Edward at first for buying Bella and the blow job. But after knowing his background and everything that has happened in the story since, I've gotten over it. I mean really people, if Bella did, then so can you. I'm currently pissed at Bella for the phone call and 1 year letter. Even if there is a baby, unless she broke both hands and legs, there is no excuse for no contact after professing her love and support. I'm sure I'll get over that too. What will stay with me when this story is over is the frustration and unhappiness that Edward was in prison for 8 years. I'm afraid that will linger for a while if it happens that way.
Oh, and Alice is a raging Bitch from the lower depths of Hell.
Really? Bella was raped. Edward bought a 17-year-old girl to rape. She was also tortured and her parents thought she might be dead. Do you blame victims in real life too?
ReplyDeleteI haven't been reviewing cuz my heart just hurt too much. *sigh* First...Alice is a hateful bitch, from the moment Edward realized what a colossal mistake he made buying a slave he has done nothing but try to make it right. Second...WHY couldn't Bella have had some PATIENCE? I refer to my previous statement...Edward had been doing everything he could to make sure she was safe and was going to be delivered safely home. Third.......ONE YEAR??? She doesn't try to contact him for an entire YEAR? I'm sorry, but that just doesn't sit right with me. If she really understands why he plead guilty than why just leave him to suffer without even a word of thanks, or a fuck you! you deserve what you get? Just leaving him there letting him wallow in his guilt and self hatred is wrong, wrong, wrong, I don't care how old she is. Especially with her knowing how he "grew up" or DIDN'T "grow up" as it were. Well.....enough about THEM, let's talk about YOU! Holy hell, woman! You have outdone yourself with this story! So hard to read at times, funny in some places, really sweet one minute, hella sexy another! Then BAM! You hit us up with a crapload of angst! And the cliffies!!!!! Good lord, I have been on the edge of my seat so to speak! You have a gift my friend, keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI like your comment very much! Everything you say is very thoughtful.
ReplyDeleteNo.I have the same picture in my head. A happy purple cheshire cat, sitting on a tree, eating popcorn, reading the drama! :)))
ReplyDeleteShe may have been a victim at first, but the relationship between her and Edward changed dramatically....so it's OK she wanted a wedding night with him that he refused to give her at first, and that afterwards she behaved in a way that would have given any man hope she wanted more, to only vanish in thin air when he was going through hell, because hey, she's the victim, she can do whatever she wants. Frankly, I'm surprised she didn't shoot him while she enjoyed the orgasms...I suppose she would have even deserved praise for it. From the Edward haters of course.
ReplyDeleteI have serious doubt about Bella's "love" for Edward as well.
ReplyDeleteYes!!!! What VW said. Couldn't have said it better myself.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know this story had been moved so I'm just catching up. I love that I had so many chapters to read at once, but now I'm wishing I would have waited a bit longer. I hate that Edward is in prison and I swear to fuck it hurt when he started touching his face like Bella did. His pain is killing me right now.
I really love this story but I sure as hell hope things start looking up soon. These last few chaps have been extremely hard for me seeing as I am in a similar position with my hubs in prison. He is my Edward tho and it's been 5 yrs whats 5-10 more, right?
ReplyDeleteHi! this is my first time commenting here, sorry for that. I'm just catching up with the story and I can't not comment this chapter. I loved it since the first chapter and this last one just broke my heart, not when Edward went to jail but the whole letter thing... I just have this thing squeezing my heart. What I love about this fic is that it just seem to be happening according to reality, I mean, what is happening to Edward has to be expected. Im waiting for a happy ending or some kind of, but if that won't be the case at least I wish some peace for Edward. Can't wait for more. Thank U Savage!
ReplyDeleteHi gennell, i'm new aroung here but I wanted to say that I agree with you about Bella, I don't know what to make fo her. Yes she young and naive but with everything that happened to her and being the only one who really got to know Edward I was expecting a lot more from her side. And for Alice I think she's nothing to Edward, never been friends with him only business as everyone else. Let's see what is in store for him :(
ReplyDeleteComing from a victim-blamer. Excuse me, but what if Bella was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. She's been kidnapped, sexually tortured and isolated with her captor. Should Jaycee Dugard get back with the man who raped her? Just because she developed "feelings" doesn't make those feelings anything other than an attempt to survive.
ReplyDeleteThat's the problem with these kinds of fics. They lead into victim-blaming and excusing of rapists.
Well Fuck. Now I'm just waiting for the impending suicide. Waiting for him to find something sharp enough to cut his wrist w/ and off himself.
ReplyDeleteRe Bella and her sentiments on 8 yrs? ---"That’s not really so long, is it? " --- Its funny that Edward is the one who did horrific thing, but I just want to slap HER silly. And Alice? I HATE HER NOW.
This is kinda like his years as a vamp and the New Moon moment all in one. She'll be growing up and he'll be staying stationary sts. Appreciate Seth. Kinda surprised he doesn't have more contacts in there (though that could be a bad thing too! lol). Inmates REALLY don't take kindly to rapists and pedophiles, do they? (yeah last chappy, but I needed to read this! LOL).
ReplyDeleteLike what you did with Bella. Fits. Alice makes sense and yet I wonder if Bella will have any contact with her and win her over or something. The Public Defender bit make me sad for the both of them. Can imagine Bella's reaction to him just signing it - sadness that the tiny bit of hope she'd nursed was dashed, and practicality leading her to understand, too. :(
Thanks!!!
*snif*
ReplyDeleteIt's like gennell and VW are reading my mind. We share the same exact sentiments about that cruel bitch Alice and Bella's supposed feelings for Edward. And I have never even considered referring to him as Doofus..
ReplyDeletewell i have to say that i agree with every word that VW has said!! i mean how much shit does a person have to take after trying to atone for what he's done!! he's so alone and paying for what he did. sure bella could've just called and said that she was alive and well and hung up! thanks VW for expressing most of what i feel as well!
ReplyDeleteOh man I was trying to pretend I didn't know those guys violated poor Edward.... I love alice's alience that was awesome and I am curious what will happen to him after he gets out. :)
ReplyDeleteYES! That letter was just what he needed to hear. She had not forgotten him.
ReplyDeleteOh, that letter was so sweet. Very Bella. Fantastic job... not that any of this hasn't been, but I figured I might as well say it again. Uphill now? Gotcha. Good. I don't think I could have taken much more of this other... stuff. Can't wait!
ReplyDelete~Jessi
Well, this is hardly any fun, now you've got me crying
ReplyDeleteGreat chapter though;D)
I'm also disappointed. 1 letter in a year. Not the studious, wants to be a writer Bella we've come to know in other ff.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I guess we could throw her a bone & say her lack of maturity is showing Or maybe it is her lack of love for him.;(
sobbing. fucking sobbing over some stupid fanfic! damn it!! I have work to do. this isn't funny. god, i'm soooo sad. i really love bella - such a sweet, sweet girl.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get the bbq line?
more sobs.
I think I already commented on this chapter, but I was just reading through some of the comments that people left and well, wow. People are not going to finish the story? They made it 90 chapters and NOW they bail? Because Edward was raped in prison? In my opinion worse stuff has happened in this story. Why read through all that and then bail now? Anyway, it just goes to show you that Savage is a great writer. You have people caring so much for Edward that they can't even read anymore. You should def use your power for good and not evil... just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteI loved how Edward was trying to soothe himself. I just want to give him a hug.
ReplyDelete*whimpers* poor Edward :-(
ReplyDeletePlease don't take this as flaming because I have read two hundred ff and one completely broke me and I have never flamed any author. It's your story, you vision and I was free to read or not. And I adored it up until chapter 89. I hate the last 2. I understand why he did it, plead guilty, I do. I understand he needed to pay for what he did.. But I think his price was too high. He was an abused child, and antisocial man. He had no idea his actions would cost anyone what it did. When he realized, he did everything in his power to make it right. He didn't deserve to pay for Aro & James' crimes to humanity too.. No matter what happens. I don't see how there ever could be a true HEA. I mean, even if they end up married with a house full of kids, it wont be in my mind. As I said, (and of course you know) it's your story, your vision, so there doesn't have to be a HEA. But truly, this has broken me a little more, and it will be a very long time before I read anything with any angst. .. :(
ReplyDeleteHe's still so much a little boy!!! Alice is right on top of my shit list!!!!! Self righteous cow!!! He did everything in his power to make it right, that will never in any way make amends for what he did and he is aware of that. I don't believe Alice is any better than he is, if Bella got in her way I doubt she'd loose any sleep about putting a bullet through her head.
ReplyDeleteYour stories always make me cry! I was heartbroken after reading Hide and Drink and I feel the same way now!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree that Edward has done some terrible things (and not only to Bella), but he sacrificed himself to atone for his wrong doings and must now pay the price - but I am so glad that Seth is there to protect him!!!!
Alice was harsh but real and so was Bella's letter. Can there be a HEA for them? Surely Edward could get out in half of his sentence with good behaviour, but I defer to your artistic license on that one.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell?! Alice was really going to blow him away at the end of it all or was she just being snarky? Why did she even bother to go visit him? Where is everyone else? Gee he really is alone. And Bella? Is that ALL???? I mean really?! I guess she really is just a little teen shit not able to handle it all. I thought she'd find a better way to help. One letter after one year?! So much for her never leaving him like everyone else?!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell I'm pissed???
I'm with you about everything!!!
ReplyDeleteThe hope a letter can bring and she wrote love.
ReplyDeleteUm, reading the comments maybe I'm missing something, but when Alice asked if he got "f-d over" I thought it was the beat-down that put him in the infirmary? Afterwards he had Seth for protection?! Right? JMO. But, yeah, Alice is hard core although Bella herself wanted to off him once or twice & Alice wasn't around so she (and the others) could only imagine what E was u to with her all those weeks. This is sad all around for B, for E.

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to point out to everyone - Please don't forget the hell Bella went through b/c of Edwards request for a sex slave.
LOL!! Who's with me? ;D
8 years! Really?
ReplyDeleteI hope Bella would find a way to see Edward soon.
Break my heart why don't ya.
ReplyDeleteUgh... Meh poor heart (or stomach) can't take it.
ReplyDeleteTy for posting again.
~@shelgibson
you took the words right out of my mouth. a-fucking-men!
